While working on the content for our upcoming Botanical Bodega Retreat, I wanted to check a quote from Hippocrates, the Father of Medicine (460 -3 70 BC), to make sure I had it right. And boy howdy, I came across a resource that had many quotes I had not heard before but found very inspiring.

Let me know if any resonate with you!

  • There are in fact two things, science and opinion; the former begets knowledge, the latter ignorance.
  • A wise man should consider that health is the greatest of human blessings, and learn how by his own thought to derive benefit from his illnesses.
  • Everything in excess is opposed to nature.
  • Keep a watch also on the faults of the patients, which often make them lie about the taking of things prescribed.
  • Cure sometimes, treat often, comfort always.
  • To do nothing is also a good remedy.
  • Whenever a doctor cannot do good, he must be kept from doing harm.
  • It’s far more important to know what person the disease has than what disease the person has.
  • Walking is man’s best medicine.

-Hippocrates

Oh, and the quote I was verifying is one I try to live: Let food be thy medicine and medicine be thy food.
